Yayasan Emkay

EMKAY Group is actively involved in social and community development, as well as environmental protection programmes. All corporate social responsibility activities by EMKAY Group are channelled through the three foundations founded by Tan Sri, namely Yayasan EMKAY, Yayasan Pulau Orang Utan Bukit Merah and Pulau Banding Foundation.

Yayasan EMKAY was established on 12 January 2001 to facilitate and realize EMKAY Group’s philanthropic work with the objective of helping the needy, especially those living on the fringe of development. The foundation's programmes are divided into five main sectors which are education, health, religion, community welfare and sports.

Tan Sri Datuk (Dr.) Hj Mustapha Kamal Hj Abu Bakar heads the foundation as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Yayasan EMKAY’s main focus is in Education with a special focus on the Orang Asli Education Programs in the Belum-Temengor Rainforest Complex of Hulu Perak, through the 'Saya Boleh!’ (I can!) Program.

Yayasan EMKAY also have the Toy Library project in its portfolio, with a total of 31 centres (including 4 in the Belum-Temengor area) in villages across Malaysia.

In healthcare, Yayasan EMKAY have set up 6 haemodialysis centres in rural areas namely the Wan Nong Dialysis Centre (Batu Gajah, Perak); Felina Dialysis Centre (Banting, Selangor), Farah Mahami Dialysis Centre in Sungai Merab, Selangor, a centre in Alor Setar, Kedah, which was donated to Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah, 2 other centres in Sungai Petani, Kedah (Fazwinna Dialysis Centre), and in Bukit Merah, Perak (Ahmad Khalif Dialysis Center).

Other initiatives by Yayasan EMKAY includes the adoption of Kampung Selamat (a village bordering Bukit Merah Laketown Resort), building of 9 suraus in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak and Pulau Langkawi in Kedah, contributions to mosques, pilgrimage funds and hearse donations, provision of educational grants and scholarship as student aids, and last but not least contribution to the development of sports such as football, golf, as well as the sponsorship of sports and games for children homes and school in rural areas.
